* West Australian Symphony Orchestra String Quartet.
* Tura New Music’s Sonus Ensemble.
Be picked up from the front of the Newman Visitor Centre at 11am and be chauffered by Go West Tours to Kalamina Gorge where you will be nestled amongst the rock giants of the Pilbara at the bottom of Kalamina Gorge where you will be indulged with music from a WASO String Quartet and then from Tura New Music’s Sonus Ensemble.
First the magnificent “WASO String Quartet” featuring Rebecca Glorie (Violin), Cerys Tooby (Violin), Rachael Kirk (Viola) and Fotis Skordas (Cello), will perform classical favourites whilst bringing to life the beautiful and natural surroundings of this stunning landscape. Whether you’re a classical music fan or not, this will be a magical musical experience not to be missed.
Then “The Sonus Ensemble” featuring Stephen Pigram, Genevieve Wilkins, Tristen Parr and Tos Mahoney present a wealth of original, new music. Sonus is a meeting of cultural forces, ancient and contemporary, through songs of outback Australia and newly commissioned music for this performance, celebrating the sounds of the North West.
Seating is provided; please bring drinking water and sensible shoes for entering the gorge. Glass and alcohol are NOT permitted within the gorges.
Pack a picnic for your bus trips as there will be no food facilities at this event.
Go West will then chauffer you back from Kalamina Gorge after the event, take you for a convenience stop and return you in air conditioned comfort to the Newman Visitor Centre at approximately 8pm.
